How to Cook Morels

Ingredients: Hand picked fresh Morel mushrooms

One cup cornmeal flour

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/2 tsp crushed black pepper

3 tlbs butter

First shake all dirt and insects from the morels. I like to do this as I pick them so that the spores that fall out will make new mushrooms.

Soak in salt water for about an hour to finish getting rid of any insects. Rinse with cold water and lay them out to pat dry.

In a bowl add your cornmeal flour salt and pepper, mix well. 

Meanwhile place an iron skillet on medium and melt 3 tlbs butter in the pan. Dredge the mushrooms in the flour mixture and fry in the butter til golden brown. Lay on paper towels to drain off excess butter. 

Serve with mashed potatoes and salad.
